So far, in the first couple of weeks of doing this painting, I have finished the background, and begun painting part of what's going over top of it, which is that mint-colored blob you can see in the far right photo. At first I actually wasn't planning on having my background look like this, with the squares in which the brushstrokes alternate between horizontal and vertical. The black paint I picked up, however, had a thinner, glossier consistency than I had expected, so the brushstrokes could actually be seen really well, and I ended up liking the look that had. So I had to change my plan a little bit from what I was originally going to do because I really wanted to keep the background.
