I finally got done assembling my sculpture this week, and I put the two parts together, which are the circles of plastic cups and bottles, and the cut up plastic bags. Unfortunately, this weekend was hard for me, and I spent most of Saturday at the doctor's for an unexpected health issue, so my sculpture got done a little late, but it is done now.

Some of the water bottles and plastic cups I've cut up to help make this sculpture, and the beginnings of what will be hanging. To make the second image larger, click on it.
This past week has been a mix of collecting materials for the sculpture, and beginning to assemble it, after cutting the water bottles and plastic cups up into smaller circles. The yarn the sculpture is hanging from is probably not going to be final, but I used it because it was the closest string I could find in my room and I needed something to hang the sculpture from. This week is going to be a lot more cutting/assembling. Well, I thought I posted this on Friday, but apparently something got screwed up, and hopefully now it'll be posted for good.
But anyway, this week, I think I've decided on an idea (not one of the ones from my sketchbook earlier, but a different one), and I've begun collecting lots of plastic bottles like these, and some trash wrappers and things, not pictured, that are going to make up my sculpture. I'm still not 100% sure of the size or shape that I want this to be, but I do know that I want it to be a hanging sculpture of inter-connected circles made of bottles and other trash that I can shape into loops, and be at least somewhat large. |
